SPECIAL: Friday Night Outreach

If you don't come to Friday night outreach downtown, I'm telling you, you are missing out!! Every Friday it's always something new and exciting. About 10pm Friday night 15-20 teens and adults meet, pray, and then head down the streets of Tejon and all around to tell people about Jesus Christ. The streets are always packed with club-goers, homeless people, and people doing different things. Here's a lowdown of the past few weeks.

Three weeks ago, one of us was able to pray with a young girl who works at the hot dog stand. She got saved and came to outreach, youth and church the next day! And I've seen her at church a few times since then! Thank God we are seeing fruit! That same night, Daniel pulled out his guitar and made up a song about "it's not ok to be gay..." and you can imagine the reaction that got! It was a funny thing, but at the same time people heard that according to God's word it's not ok to be gay and Jesus has a plan for their lives.

We also had Joel handcuffed and chained to the devil (David Albright in a devil suit) screaming and yelling saying, "I'm not a slave to sin, I'm perfectly fine!". Which he wasn't fine because he was chained to the devil pulling him and dragging him about! We got a lot of reaction out of that! People weren't to happy to see the devil out there, but it opened up a door for us to talk to people and tell them about Jesus. Many people heard the gospel and received a tract that night.

Mostly every Friday something wild happens! Whether a crazy, homless man follows us around all night and tries to argue with us, or people just manafest because they don't like the name Jesus. Either way the name Jesus is put out there and we pass out hundreds of tracts! And though it's crazy down there, we get a lot of people with an open heart looking for something real. And those people are why it's worth it. I thank God for those people who have a heart to hear and soak up every word. Pray that God brings more people with a ready heart to receive Him.

Sorry there arn't many pics but the pic man (aka Tyler) is outta town and I didn't take any! But I'm telling you it's a blast. So tomorrow, Friday night, we will be hitting the streets again. Don't miss out!

Youth: June 19

Saturday night we had a great youth service! God really moved! The song service was great, Brian led songs and did fantastic! Tyler preached on "Moving on With Jesus" and maturing in our spiritual life. God really touched many lives at altar call...it was a great service!

After service we all boogied over to Fargos for a very fun time! The food was yummy, the fellowship was great, and the arcade was a great ending to the night!

You don't want to miss youth this saturday at 6:00! See you there

Youth Spotlight: Melissa A.

My name is Melissa; I'm 16 years old and a little more than a year ago I struggled with suicide. It got so bad that in the year of 2008 I attempted suicide three times. Almost all my life I felt so outcasted and alone that I thought no one would miss me. Back in 6th grade I started getting into drugs, but it didn't stop the thoughts; it just made things worse. Then I tried friends - I became popular, but I ended up feeling more alone. I eventually told my family how I felt, but it seemed as though they didn't care. This made me angry so I started to rebel even more. I started ditching school with friends. The school counselor said they were going to kick me out if I didn't start coming to school. I tried for a while, but I thought, "What's the point? I'm useless anyways; the only thing I'm good at is making things worse than they already are."

Then my sister got sick and God revealed Himself to me, but I refused to believe. I would argue that there is no God. One of the pastors kept witnessing to me. I told him I believed in science, but he never gave up on me. He told me God loved me. I couldn't understand how God could love me if I hated Him. Two weeks had passed by as I dwelled on the thought that God loved me. I could feel God tug on my heart.

On December 21, 2008, I got saved. I became overwhelmed by the love Jesus has for me and now I praise the God that - not too long ago - I didn't believe in. Jesus helped me; He saved me from myself and now I am Heaven bound. I have no idea where I would be if I didn't get saved - Probably hell.

Jesus calls me His masterpiece; now I don't have to go through life feeling like junk, and you don't have to either. If you're not saved, you can be. Jesus took all my burdens and He can do the same for you!

Youth Service June 12, 2010

Saturday evening at youth Tyler preached a sermon on "personal holiness" He showed a slide show with various photos asking if they were holy or unholy. He also interacted with us during the service and chose certain teens to look up and read some scriptures aloud. During the service I learned that holy means to be set apart for God. Although Tyler's word was short and sweet, it sent out a very powerful message and many teens went to the altar. I appreciate youth group and I can't wait until this Saturday so I can go back!

Youth spotlight: Esmi Erives

We asked Esmi what her special talent or hobby is, and the
answer is...
  • Do you have a special talent or hobby?: "Yes, I make my own bows for my hair"
  • How long does it take to make one?: "Usually 10 minutes"
  • How many have you made?: "About 20"
  • Do you like it?: "Duh!! :)"
  • How long have you been doing this?: "Since last year, I learned it from my aunt"

What a fun and cute hobby!! It may sound lame to boys, but this is actually a very popular thing to do for girls. I may be asking her to make some for me! Way to go Esmi, keep up that bow making!

Pioneer Boot Camp.

I am honestly so proud of our teens! 90% our youth is on outreaches through out the week, even by themselves! I recently heard one of our teens watches "Way of the Master" videos for an hour before he goes on outreach so he is equipped to preach the Gospel with power! Many of them have also sacrificed a lot for Pioneer Boot Camp.

For all parents: know that you have great teens that are willing to do anything for Jesus!

I just wanted to write a reply to a comment left on the previous post. I think we all need to be reminded of something. Pioneer Boot Camp is a privilege! We are being allowed to go visit a smaller church, help them out, and learn from them. Any teen who wants to be sent out one day is getting a years worth of "Preacher Training" in one week.

Don't miss the point of the reason you are going on pioneer boot camp. We are a youth group with a bigger vision than ourselves! That is why we do PBC.

The comment asked if the t-shirt change was to save the church money. Seeing as each group was paying for their own that is obviously not the case; but even if it were we should be happy to save the church money that could be sent to Kenya for land, or Czech for their conference, Panama for their building, or used in our church for another need. And I know that when seen in that light any of our teens would be willing to give up a t-shirt for any of our other churches!

Why one color? Well we are one group. One united youth group willing to do whatever it takes to see souls saved and as ONE BIG GROUP not 6 little groups we are going to rock the United States for Jesus together!

Pioneer Boot Camp is going to be amazing! I can't wait to see all God does!
